I have a student who wants suggestions for a song to sing at a music competition.  Last year she sang that song "The Prayer" that is often sung as a duet between a pop singer and a (pseudo-)opera singer.  She has a very nice voice, and she can do that... yodel-y thing.  It occurred to me that country music might be a place to start.

I'd really like to find something good for a medium high soprano voice.  Something not belt-y. And (this would be really good) something Christian.  I know those songs are in Country music.  The first one that comes to my mind is "Temporary Home."  But then... I'm getting nothing.

Anyone with ideas?  (And yes, I'm looking at you, [livejournal.com profile] litlover12. :-)  )

To me, this song is like Early/middle Beatles, but Countrified.

Does that make any sense to anyone but me?

Also, I heard this on the radio and couldn't figure out who was singing...because there are two people who switch off mid-verse.  :-)  I guess I wasn't paying enough attention, but it was a relief to learn that it actually was the Zac Brown Band AND Alan Jackson, not that I was losing my ability to distinguish voices.  :-)
