I went to cross-post "Walla Walla" and discovered that most of the comms I was going to post to are moderated now.  It doesn't make much difference to me, but this is surprising, given that the last time I did any major cross-posting, the only moderated comm was [livejournal.com profile] sherlockbbc which is no longer moderated.

Did something terrible happen in the past few months?

The Grand Moff has deleted his twitter account!

Oh well.  I only go onto twitter every few weeks -- usually when I hear of something else hilarious happening on his account.

And to be fair, the "fans" are incredibly rude to him on twitter...

I loved his snarky replies, though.

Also... I NOW HAVE TO WAIT SEVERAL DAYS FOR THE ANGELS TAKE MANHATTAN!

GAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

So, I must bow out of Watson's Woes end-of-July prompts ignominiously only three days in.

BUT I WATCHED THE DARK KNIGHT RISES TWICE.  OKAY?!!?!?!

Now in my Sherlock headcanon, Sherlock called Mycroft "Crofty" when he was little.

Which is timely, since I am in the midst of a story about wee!Sherlock for [livejournal.com profile] sherlockmas.  :-D

(The alternatives to my spamming you folks are my watching something called "Eight-Legged Freaks" or "House Hunters on Vacation".  Both of which are unacceptable.)

(Okay, could also be writing, but I'm going to have to stop in a minute, so it's not worth getting into the mental state.)

Am I the only person in the Sherlock fandom who gets Robert Graves and Rupert Graves confused?

I wasn't looking for it, but it is no coincidence that I found it while composing something on A Scandal in Belgravia

It says something that I am constantly wanting to rant about (and sometimes do rant about to my friends) but it says it far better than I ever could:

"Those who cannot conceive Friendship as a substantive love, but only as a disguise or elaboration of Eros betray the fact that they have never had a Friend. The rest of us know that though we can have erotic love and friendship for the same person yet in some ways nothing is less like a Friendship than a love-affair. Lovers are always talking to one another about their love; Friends hardly ever about their Friendship. Lovers are normally face to face, absorbed in each other; Friends, side by side, absorbed in some common interest. Above all, Eros (while it lasts) is necessarily between two only. But two, far from being the necessary number for Friendship, is not even the best."

So, my Sherlock headcanon is quite developed at this point.  (Read "goldvermilion87 is an obsessed lunatic.")  The story that sort of outlines that headcanon is Operating System, and I have sorted most of my fics into eras of what I call my Operating System Universe.

From the beginning I have been trying to make it as consistent with the actual show as possible, and after this season I'm still happy with the way I've developed the characters in my head and canon-consistency.  There is one thing though -- I made Sarah John's wife.  I realized that the chances of her marrying him weren't spectacular, so I intentionally wrote the fics in such a way that I could easily retcon them.  And now it has been confirmed -- she is not the future Mrs. Watson.

I am perfectly happy to retain in my headcanon that John will marry and move out of Baker Street (and was ecstatic to hear Moffat say in some interview that they'd be interested in tackling that at some point), and since I haven't committed myself to many dates, it could be an event set after the show is completely finished.

The question I have, though is, should I retcon now?  Perhaps the hiatus and return will give more information that should inform my headcanon?  Maybe we'll meet Mrs. Watson in Series 3?  I don't know...

Thoughts?

(And if your thought is "get a life!"  I've already considered that and rejected it.  :-P  In all seriousness, I enjoy writing fanfic, but I consider it... lit crit lite.  Making sure it remains consistent -- in fact, challenging myself to write nothing that would _not_ be consistent -- is half the fun.  :-D).

I find it entertaining that the first youtube vids I went to with Rossini's overture to The Thieving Magpie and The BeeGee's "Stayin' Alive" all have top comments of "We're here for Sherlock!"

I bet Nina Simone's "Sinnerman" is the same.

Twitter from about three hours ago:

Steven Moffat
Not long now! Remember it's just a TV show. Only the emotional damage is real.

------------------------

Have I ever mentioned that I LOVE STEVEN MOFFAT?

Now to stay off Twitter, LJ, and basically any other social media until I have watched the show myself.

See you tomorrow, folks!
