Random AWESOME STUDENTS Squee!

So, one class out of my potpourri of classes is High School choir.  Because of the truly terrible conductor we'd had for about 10 years, I didn't get very many kids, but I have 13.  This is actually a beautiful number for a capella singing.

Anyway, we have well-learned (though we've yet to perfect) William Billings' gorgeous piece, "Shiloh," and we are now starting on Tchesnokov's Spaseniye Sodelal.  I am confident that my students can learn it, but it will take a little bit of sectional rehearsal time.  In my 60 student high school, that means lunch time.  Well, I asked, and not only did the basses say "sure, that would be great, because then we can really work together in class instead of wasting time on learning our parts"  [inside I was saying YES!  YOU GET IT!  CHOIR IS FOR  BLENDING NOT FOR LEARNING PARTS THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!] and then, they ate really quickly, and we got SO MUCH DONE and also I found out from something one of the basses said, that two of them practice together every single Wednesday at lunch.  I mean, I require that they practice a certain number of times each week (though I am not really checking up on them) but it makes me so excited that they're practicing as a team.

:-D :-D :-D :-D

Have I ever mentioned that...

I LOVE TEACHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
