Sort of... meta?

goldvermilion87My fic for the Holmes big bang is going to include Englishmen travelling America... which means I have to try to use my American imagination (as well as my American British-television-obsessed brain) to write how Englishemen might perceive America. (Modern day... I pretty much only write Sherlock-verse now...)
This might be a terribly stupid idea, but I will press on! (Though I suppose it's not much stupider than writing about Englishmen in England. At least I'm personally familiar with the setting now!)
If you are on my f-list and are British, please feel free to comment with any random ideas that you have in your brain about America. Things that strike you as particularly odd/puzzling/offensive/amusing about American culture. Things that stick in your mind as particularly American. That sort of thing. :-)
