My favorite singer in the whole world, Sir Thomas Allen, celebrates his 40th anniversary at the Royal Opera House today.  :-D

This is not a drabble. But it IS a cracky crossover! This is my entry for July prompt 6 at [livejournal.com profile] watsons_woes . The crossover is, as will soon become evident, between Sherlock and 18th century opera. The links are to the songs that John and Sherlock sing. (Worth listening to at least a few seconds in my opinion, so you can properly visualize [audiolize?] John and Sherlock singing them. hehe) There are some notes after the fic for anyone willing to brave it without any knowledge of 18th century opera.   (And I honestly don't know if this will be at all funny to someone who doesn't know a bit about it...)

And credit where credit is due--I did all the actual writing, but this was co-plotted with [livejournal.com profile] labourslamp who is a hilariously funny individual, and as sane as I am. She came up with the horrible pun subtitle. Which I of course, HAD to use. :-D

This:   [just changed it out for a different (and better) recording]

And I know it's very wrong since I'm a pasty white white girl...

But I'M SINGING IT WITH MY VOICE TEACHER.  AND I NEVER GET TO SING DUETS WITH ANYONE, NOT TO MENTION WITH ACTUALLY GOOD SINGERS!!!!!!!!!!!

So I'm only mildly awkward about it.  :-P

However, this just makes me INTIMIDATED!  I think I'd rather sing the letter aria from Eugene Onegin, Russian text and everything!

(His "NO!" gives me the chills...though my favorite line may be Leporello's "Oibo! Oibo!  Tempo non ha.  Scusate.")
