My favorite canon scene is the opening of VALL, but, I already put that as my favorite passsage on Day One.
I was trying to think of my favorite Scene in Sherlock, and I came up with two. I can't decide between them, because they are a matching pair.
1. The scene in the living room at Baker Street when Sherlock says "Heroes don't exist, John, and if they did, I wouldn't be one of them." That is such a poignant scene. It is the first time John faces up to (and forces Sherlock to face up to) the fact that Sherlock just doesn't care. John doesn't talk much in Sherlock, and this is one of his big moments. And yet, despite this being an instance of John (by the standards of his own, generally phlegmatic, personality) EXPLODING, it's still fairly understated. Everything about that scene is wonderful. (Oh yeah... also the fact that you think for a second that Sherlock cared about the old lady, and then you [with John] realize that he only cares about the blow to his vanity--that's like a punch in the gut for the audience member and for John.)
John: There are LIVES at stake, Sherlock. Actual human lives. Just-just so I know, do you care about that at all?
Sherlock: Will caring about them help to save them?
John: Nope
Sherlock: Then I'll continute not to make that mistake
John: And you find that easy, do you?
Sherlock: Yes. Very. Is that news to you?
John: No... No...
Sherlock: I've disappionted you.
John: Good. That's a good deduction, yeah.
Sherlock: Don't make people into heroes, John. Heroes don't exist, and if they did, I wouldn't be one of them.
Sherlock: People have died.
Moriarty: THAT'S WHAT PEOPLE DO!
I CANNOT WAIT UNTIL AUGUST TO SEE THE END OF THIS SCENE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
